“All beanies should have been knitted by grannies”
Two years ago, Jérémy Emsellem started knitting his own beanies with the crochet hook. The beanies instantly became popular among his friends and relatives. Soon afterwards, he was no longer able to keep up with the increasing demand for them.
During a visit to his grand aunt, he realized that grannies were often bored especially in retirement homes. He came up with the idea that they might enjoy knitting and helping him in their spare time. In that frame of mind, Golden hook was born.
After a successful granny recruiting campaign, he launched his own custom beanie website. Back then, the clients were already able to choose their knitting grannies online. A few months later, Maïa Krzisch joined him and started to create a brand collection.
Our beanies currently travel from New York to Singapore, passing through London and even Sao Paulo. Our business has recently expanded and we have spent all summer looking for new grannies. In the near future, we intend to create a “granny Google map” that will give the opportunity to foreign customers to choose a granny in their local area. Our dream is to create a worldwide community of knitting grannies.
